It may look like a scam letter, but officials say if you get something in the mail about cost-saving programs on Medicare coverage- it’s the real deal.

Around 5,000 seniors in Sarasota County got letters from the Social Security Administration, and so far, almost none have responded.

According to a release from the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida, those who get the letter are eligible for federal programs that cover prescriptions, copays, premiums and other Medicare expenses.
