The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has charged a North Port woman with drug trafficking.

A deputy followed 34-year-old Danielle Wiitala this morning into the parking lot at Hooters on Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte.

The sheriff’s office says a series of traffic offenses led up to this point.

Deputies asked both Wiitala and 38-year-old Ashanti Roundtree of North Port to get out of the sedan.

The office says they found Xanax, Oxycodone, and ecstasy on Wiitala. It also says the vehicle had several small notebooks appearing to have information for tracking narcotics sales.

Additionally, deputies found EBT cards that did not belong to Wiitala or Roundtree.

Finally, the sheriff’s office says Wiitala had small baggies of heroin in her bra.
