Florida’s courts will now redrawn the congressional district map after the state Senate rejected the House version yesterday by a 23-16 vote. Leon County Circuit Judge George Reynolds will consider previous proposed maps before making a final recommendation to the Florida Supreme Court, which struck down boundary maps in July as unconstitutional. It marks the third failed session this year for the state legislature, one over budget issues and two over maps. Lawmakers blamed voter approval of two constitutional amendments that make gerrymandering illegal in the redistricting process.
