Charlotte County will be launching a new app within the next year. That’s all part of a 10-year transit plan that was approved by county commissioners last week.

When it finally gets rolled out, riders will be able to see where their bus is in real time, allowing them to plan accordingly for the ride. The app will initially only affect scheduled rides.

Transit Director Rick Kolar told the Sun this weekend that it still won’t guarantee a ride, as buses can’t be diverted off route at the last minute.

He says it will at least be an improvement over the current system that requires 24 hours notice.
