Florida Power and Light is set to bring a pilot program to Charlotte County that will see power lines go underground to avoid damage during storms.
The utility says around 40 percent of their distribution lines are already buried, and that number is expected to grow.
Charlotte County is on FPL’s 3-year pilot program list, but according to a FPL spokesperson, they’re still trying to figure out which neighborhoods to make a part of the program. No work is expected for at least another year or two.
