Charlotte County commissioners next week will consider a resolution that would see the speed limit along Fruitland Avenue dropped to 25 miles per hour.

The two-mile stretch of road is a common shortcut people use to get in and out of Englewood East and Rotonda.

County officials say this would be the first step in trying to minimize traffic on Fruitland altogether. That public heading is set for 10 a.m. on April 23 at the County Administration Center.
