Holiday donations have more than replaced a group of kayaks and canoes stolen last summer from the YMCA of Charlotte County. Burglars stole the equipment in July, cutting through steel cable and a padlock on a boat rack that sits along Charlotte Harbor. Several donors have helped replace the stolen items — and then some. CEO Randy Dunn tells NBC2 the Y lost six kayaks and one canoe, and has received 31 kayaks and canoes. On top of that – $6,000 in cash was given to the Y — they’ll use it to build a shelter to lock up the new equipment.
