Even though it has one of the smallest mosquito control budgets in the region, Charlotte County says it has the ability to keep the Zika virus contained.

The state health department has confirmed a travel-related case of Zika in Port Charlotte.

Treatment continues in areas in Port Charlotte where the case has surfaced.

WBBH-TV reports staff has also increased surveillance on the species carrying the virus.

The county wants people to drain any sitting water where mosquitoes breed.
