Someone was not so nice to a horse in Punta Gorda.  They shaved off its mane.  CCSO reports it happened to a white and gray mare someone between December 1st and December 3rd in a pasture along Indian Trail near North Jones Loop Road.   The mane was a smoky black or charcoal gray color.  According to the horse’s owner, the mane hair can be sold for as much as $250 to $300 a pound.  The hair is used for such things as making jewelry, artist brushes and strings for instruments.  Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101 and ask for the Agricultural Detective, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
