Waterfest gets underway Friday evening with a block party on West Dearborn Street at Englewood Beach that should be busier than ever. Debbie Marks, manager of the Sarasota County Englewood Community Redevelopment Agency, tells the Englewood Sun that they’re expecting 10 more boats than last year. That will mean the arrival of 50 or more Offshore Powerboat Association racing teams. The party gets underway at 5 p.m. at the Dearborn Plaza with most of the drivers displaying their boats, plus music and beer. The actual races, featuring national and world competition, take place Saturday and Sunday.
