The Venice Fire Department will be at the Farmers Market Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8:30 a.m. – noon to educate adults about how to prevent kitchen fires, as part of the department’s Fire Prevention Week activities. Firefighters will discuss the proper use of fire extinguishers, best practices for home safety, and provide tips on how to function in the kitchen in the safest way possible. Free helmets for children will be given away while supplies last. Residents of Sarasota County will be eligible to receive up to two free smoke detectors after filling out a required form and showing proof of residency. Recipients must be present at the time of the giveaway.
