Venice’s City Council’s settled a lawsuit filed by city Finance Director Jeffery Snyder for $20,000. The Herald-Tribune reports the suit was filed over Mayor John Holic’s demotion of Snyder in February 2012 from a charter officer who answers directly to the City Council to a department head who answers to City Manager Ed Lavallee. Holic says he had to demote Snyder after voters approved a referendum changing the city charter and changing the finance director’s job description.
