There’s been another sewage problem at Venice Regional Bayfront Health.

Over the weekend, three toilets overflowed in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. That forced hospital officials to order the evacuation of a few patients and close off part of the unit. That information was in an email sent to staff Monday and obtained by the Herald-Tribune. In it, Venice Bayfront’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Issam Halaby, says he’s organizing a petition drive aimed at Community Health Systems, to pressure them into building a new facility. CHS, which bought the facility last year, says that’s not in their plans. They’re set aside over$4-million for infrastructure improvements in the building, which dates back to 1955.
