Venice Police have run compliance checks targeting underage alcohol sales.

The chief says these show whether or not stores obey the law, as well as help managers and owners learn more about the operation and laws governing their trade.

Out of 25 stores in the city, police report nine offenses pertaining to selling alcohol to a minor. These include a repeat offender, Top Notch Wine & Spirits.

Police also report the arrest of the proprietor of the Beach Side Food Store for battery on the confidential informant. After the informant went back inside an unmarked police vehicle, Sameh Morkos allegedly forcefully opened the door and tried to take back the alcohol. Police do not report any injuries to her.
