Venice firefighters were the first on the scene of an accident that took place on Interstate 75 at Mile Marker 197 in Venice Sept. 17. When they arrived, shortly before 4 p.m., they found the driver had been ejected from the vehicle when it rolled several times and came to rest off the side of the highway. The two passengers in the Toyota 4Runner were injured, but walking. The Venice crew assessed the injuries and began to prepare the ejected patient to be transported to a hospital when the ambulance arrived. The other patients also received medical attention. The Venice crew called for the county’s hazmat to deal with minor fuel leaks at the accident site.
