As of tomorrow, Cynthia Dehler will be out of a job as a fire inspector in Vencie. That’s because she’s not certified in Florida. She was hired in mid-June, and the Herald-Tribune reports she’s been working on getting state certified, something she says city officials knew when they hired her. What’s changed? A complaint to the city about that lack of certification. City Manager Ed Lavallee says they’ll post the job again, and if Dehler has her certification she’s welcome to reapply. He says her application shouldn’t have been considered in the first place because a minimum requirement is State certification. A fire department spokesperson says Dehler’s waiting for an appointment to take the certification exam.
