Venice, Florida

After hours of deliberation, the Venice City Council has reached a consensus to modify the city’s zoning map. The amendment allows for the construction of a Publix-anchored shopping center on a 10.4-acre plot situated at the southwest corner of Jacaranda Boulevard and Laurel Road.

The final vote tally resulted in a 5-1 decision in favor of the change. Notably, the designated area, which encompasses 6.6 acres of wetlands, currently holds an open space classification within the Cielo subdivision. This subdivision is part of the larger 503.9-acre Milano planned-unit development, which spans both sides of Jacaranda Boulevard.
