The Venice City Council has rejected a motion that would have banned liquor from street festivals and special events downtown.
Several downtown business owners had emailed Mayor John Holic, saying they were “disappointed in seeing alcohol being served” at the Venice Beach Party. The party is usually held on Venice Beach, but was moved to Centennial Park due to red tide.
The City Council members were split on the issue and ultimately voted no.
