A beach water advisory has been issued for Venice Beach.

Only the portion located at the west end of Venice Avenue, one mile west of Business 41 is affected. Sarasota County Health Department officials received say testing on Wednesday showed an elevated level of enterococci (enteric) bacteria. They’ll sampe again today, with results announced tomorrow. Other Venice beaches that are not under a beach water advisory and are safe for swimming and recreational sports are South Jetty, Brohard Beach, Venice Fishing Pier and Service Club Park.
Health officials say that the advisory is limited to the beach water at the beach access at the west end of Venice Avenue. Signage advising the public not to swim or engage in water recreation at Venice Beach will remain in place until follow-up water testing results are satisfactory.
