Venice Municipal Airport hosted officials from the Federal Aviation Administration this week to discuss a request to open up a skydiving drop zone in the area. Airport leaders contend that the amount of air traffic would pose too great a risk to a skydiving operation, but the FAA was not fully convinced. A consultant for the airport is preparing a proposal showing three possible drop zones for the Venice City Council to consider at its August 25 meeting. The skydiving company making the request hopes to be up and running in November.
