Five vehicles in the Port Charlotte area have been reported burglarized within the past few days. All of the vehicles had been left unlocked.

On Thursday, deputies took a report from a victim who reported that their vehicle had been entered and the contents rummaged through sometime between Sunday July 28 and Thursday August 1. The vehicle had been parked in the area of Olean and Harbor.

Earlier today, deputies received reports from two different victims along Midway Blvd. in the area of Conway Blvd. where a total of four vehicles were entered sometime overnight.

In all instances, the suspects entered unlocked vehicles and removed whatever loose property had been left inside. Detectives are investigating the burglaries.

Sheriff Bill Prummell would like to remind everyone to always lock their car doors when they leave their vehicle.

“An unlocked car door is an open invitation for a dishonest person to easily enter your vehicle,” Sheriff Prummell said. “Always lock your car when it is unattended, even in your driveway.”

Anyone with information concerning these vehicle burglaries is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office as (941) 639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
