Two important meetings are coming up that will impact the way downtown Venice looks and functions. Everyone is invited to attend and participate.

The city’s sign regulation workshop takes place Wednesday, June 12 at 8 a.m. in the community hall at Venice City Hall, 401 W. Venice Ave.

The city is updating its sign regulations. The goals of the process include:
• Consolidate sign regulations currently scattered
throughout the Land Development Code,
• Correct any internal inconsistencies in the existing sign
regulations,
• Identify best practices and examples of innovative and
effective sign codes applicable to Venice, and
• Address sign issues and needs identified by the community
and local businesses.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for people who are interested to share their views of the existing sign regulations and how the regulations may be amended to meet the needs of local businesses while maintaining the city’s quality of place.

The following day, Thursday, June 13, the city holds a Downtown Venice Mobility Study Public Workshop, also at City Hall at 8 a.m. The city is in the beginning phases of developing a Downtown Mobility Plan focused on improving mobility on transportation corridors in and around the downtown area.

The study includes the assessment of existing parking conditions, the design and placement of wayfinding signage to direct residents and visitors to points of interest within Venice, as well as recommended improvements to address walking and biking improvements.

The results will help to identify the city’s needs associated with all modes of transportation in the downtown area to accommodate pedestrians, bicycles, transit and automobiles. Findings of the existing conditions will be presented at this meeting. Additional input will be gathered from community
members. Everyone is invited to participate in this informative workshop.
