Two suspects, Tyler Scott Kling, 27, and Lainey Opal Landrum, 26, from North Port, were arrested for an armed robbery in North Port. The victim was confronted by Kling and Landrum near Pan American Boulevard and Tamiami Trail. They accused the victim of being a sexual offender, with Landrum looking up his information on her phone. Kling crushed the victim’s pack of cigarettes and bottle of beer and took his backpack, which contained his wallet and cellphone. Officers found the suspects matching the victim’s description and recovered the victim’s wallet, debit card, and a sharpened metal file. Both suspects admitted to accusing the victim of being a pedophile, but Landrum denied taking any items. Kling confessed to destroying the victim’s belongings and taking the backpack, but he denied using a sharp object. Both were charged with armed robbery and are awaiting their court appearance on November 3. Kling’s bond is set at $25,000, and Landrum’s is $1,500.
