The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes in Charlotte County.
Fire and EMS officials have identified two main areas of damage: Punta Gorda’s Deep Creek, and the area near Route 41 and Murdock Circle.
The twister in Deep Creek had winds up to 97 miles per hour, making it an EF-1 storm. The one for Murdock came in at EF-0.
Brian Gleason from the county’s public information office tells WBBH-TV that DPW crews continue assessing the damage.
The storms did not damage any facilities, and no one reported significant injuries.
Officials have deemed seven homes uninhabitable, and between 20 and 30 of them have damage.
