A tornado in Punta Gorda this morning. Charlotte County Fire and EMS says a small tornado touched down in the Deep Creek area of Punta Gorda this morning and traveled about three-quarters of a mile, reaching wind speeds of up to ninety-five miles-per-hour. The twister struck at least one home on Nuremburg Boulevard, lifting the roof off then sending it crashing back down again. The sole occupant of the house, a ninety-year-old man, was reportedly not injured. Other nearby homes, an apartment complex and a convenience store also reportedly damaged.
