A North Port woman says her special needs child was left on a Sarasota County school bus for nearly two hours last week before anyone noticed he was there. Aimee Smith says her 3 1/2 year old son Cooper was strapped in his car seat on the bus in 98-degree weather while it sat in the school bus depot in Osprey awaiting a tire change. Apparently no one noticed the child, who buses to pre-kindergarten classes at Toledo Blade Elementary, until the female driver spied him and took him to school. She’s now been placed on other duties as an investigation continues.
