The deadlock between Charlotte County and the local firefighters union finally appears to have broken.
The Sun reports after over a year off no progress, and claims of unfair labor practices by both sides, county administrators and leaders of the Suncoast Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Local 2546 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO have reached a settlement agreement that – if ratified by the union membership – will save the county more than $1 million annually, and will secure a new 3-year contract for the union.
