A Charlotte High School teacher could lose his teaching license after school officials say he accepted bribes to improve grades in his math class. The school district says former math teacher Jeff Spires accepted ten or twenty-dollar bills clipped to math tests and responded with better grades. A district report says money was often clipped or stapled to grade papers. Spires, who taught in the system for eight years, says he only took bribes because he faced bankruptcy. He’s since resigned from the school system.
