Family members and students today mourning he loss of a Tillman Elementary School teacher who drowned in Sarasota Bay. Witnesses say Calvin Esaw and another man were fishing when they apparently got into trouble in deep water. Kayakers managed to get the two ashore but when paramedics arrived, Esaw was unresponsive. Efforts to revive him at Sarasota Memorial Hospital were unsuccessful. The men had been taking advantage of the day off from school when the incident happened near the north end of Lido Key off Ringling Parkway. Esaw had been a graphic arts teacher at Tillman Elementary in Palmetto.
