Charlotte and DeSoto Counties are looking into whether or not it would make sense for Charlotte County’s stray dogs and cats to be sent to DeSoto County. Charlotte County officials and the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County haven’t been able to strike a deal for the care of strays Animal Control brings to them. The Charlotte Sun Reports County Commissioners are unwilling to go from a fixed charge/animal that averages $5,0000/month to a flat monthly fee of $22,000/month. AWL’s asking for less than what Sarasota and Lee counties pay for the same services. The current AWL/County deal ends in October.
