The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office arrested a North Fort Myers man for cocaine possession.

Deputies stopped the man’s truck on Bermont Road in Punta Gorda on Saturday because it pulled a trailer that did not have a tag.

The office says 19-year-old Payton Iles informed them he had just bought the trailer and had not registered it.

As deputies spoke to one of the passengers, another deputy saw Iles back up to a fence and toss things through the other side. Deputies found a clear plastic baggie that contained white powder, as well as several pink baggies. That white powder tested positive for cocaine.

Iles has since bonded out of the county jail. One of his passengers must appear later for marijuana possession.
