A new Vietnam War memorial in Charlotte County is scheduled to break ground on November 11. Gov. Rick Scott says he will be on-hand for the start of construction on what is being called the Vietnam Wall of Southwest Florida. The project was inspired by a traveling replica of the Vietnam veterans memorial wall in Washington, D.C., that came through the area. State grants and major donations helped grassroots fundraising efforts in funding the memorial.
