A surge in Sun Coast home sales in August: a 15 percent hike in the Sarasota-Bradenton market, 11 percent in Charlotte County-North Port from a year ago. Demand was strong and inventories were at their lowest point since the fondly-remembered real estate boom years. While sales flourished, prices dropped slightly. Analysts saying that’s likely because many of the sales were distressed or foreclosed properties, which rarely go for top dollar.
