A study shows Florida’s minimum wage of just over eight dollars per hour cannot lift families out of poverty.
The report from Columbia University puts the poverty line at $24,300 in annual income for a family with one working parent and two kids.
Working 40 hours per week, someone would need to make $11.68 per hour to hit that mark.
That number sits well over three dollars above the state’s minimum wage.
