Many Charlotte COunty residents spent today drying out, after heavy rain created lakes where their yards used to be and rivers that were once streets. Crews have been working around the clock to pump lift stations and unclog storm drains. WINK reports it wasn’t just the roads that were waterlogged. Crews with Englewood’s Water District say they’ve been pumping sewage lift stations all day because water has flooded into manholes and filled the pipes. Crews say one of the stations goes down about 20 feet underground, and the water in it was just four feet from the top. They say flooding like this they expect after a tropical storm.
