Police agencies statewide enforce Florida’s “move over” law.
January serves as “Move Over Month,” and drivers have received reminders to move over a lane so emergency vehicles have the room to work safely.
In 2014, 160 crashes resulted from drivers who failed to move over.
Those who died in such crashes included a highway patrol trooper and a tow truck driver.
The Move Over Act turned into law in 2002.
