A State House committee, over the objections of law enforcement, has approved repealing Florida’s law allowing the use of cameras to ticket motorists who run red lights. Police say the camera’s save lives, but camera opponents say there are problems with the studies on their effectiveness. They also say it’s not about safety, but about the revenue the tickets generate. The state gets $83 of each $158 fine, or $51-million in the last full budget year.
