The former city manager of Largo, who lost that job after undergoing a sex change operation that drew national media attention, is interested in the City Manager position in Sarasota. It’s the second time Susan Stanton has gone after the job, after failing to get it in 2007 after leaving Largo. Stanton, whose first name was originally Steven, was the subject of a C-N-N documentary titled “Her Name Was Steven”. After Largo, Stanton became city manager in Lake Worth but was fired after two years due to public anger over how the city was managed.
