The Florida Highway Patrol says a 56-year-old North Fort Myers woman was killed in a traffic crash on State Road 31 in Charlotte County Thursday afternoon. Jerianne Hamilton was northbound on SR 31, 7 miles north of Bermont Road, when she crossed the center lane and collided with a semi-truck driven by Noe Lucero of Auburndale. FHP reports that Lucero attempted to avoid striking Hamilton’s vehicle, but was unable to. During the evasive action, Lucero’s truck overturned, spilling wooden pallets across the roadway. SR 31 was closed for six hours as crews cleared the scene.
