Venice holds the 12th annual Special Olympics Handicap Fishing Tournament on Thursday.
The police department’s marine unit sponsors the event, which takes 30 Special Olympic athletes offshore for fishing and fun.
The event precedes the annual Sharks Tooth Festival, which runs this weekend at the airport festival grounds.
