Last week’s North Port City Commission meeting was a barn-burner, as hundreds of people both supported and denounced the Bayflite helicopter stationed near city hall. There’s more disagreement outside the meeting, with one homeowner’s group claiming Commissioner Cheryl Cook is beholden to another HOA. Commissioners directed city staff to come up with alternate locations for the helipad, which sits outside City Hall, by mid-year. Bayflight has airlifted 99 people from the North Port vicinity so far this year.
