The man facing trial on 20-year old murder charges has entered a guilty plea, in order to spare his own life.

As we told you earlier this week, Jeremy Bruce Sly was scheduled to go on trial for the murders to which he had confessed. Detectives in North Port, Port Charlotte and from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement spent five years investigating that confession before charging Sly with murder. In offering the plea, prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty. And they ensured that Sly, who could have been eligible for parole in 2017, will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
