A pedi-cab operator in Siesta Key was arrested by Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies after they found out he was a fugitive from Texas who was also a convicted sex offender who didn’t register his local address here. The Herald-Tribune reports 21-year old Jordan Tamez got on police radar when someone reported that getting a phony bill in change from a pedicab driver Saturday. When deputies asked Tamez if he had any counterfeit currency, they say he handed over a $5 and agreed to hand over his wallet, but, removed all his ID first. He then allegedly told deputies about the Texas warrant. He’s charged with failing to register as a sex offender and possession of marijuana. He’s in the Sarasota County Jail being held for Texas authorities.
