Someone’s complaint about getting counterfeit currency in their change led deputies to 21-year old Jordan Tamez. The Herald-Tribune reports deputies approached him and asked if he had any funny money. A sheriff’s spokesperson says he handed over a bogus $5, and agreed to give them his wallet, but removed his bank cards and id first. Tamez alleged admitted to having an outstanding warrant against him in Texas. He’s a registered sex offender there, convicted of sexually asaulting a child and sentenced to three years probation last year. The warrant was issued because he left the state. He’s being held without bond, charged with failing to register as a sex offender and possession of marijuana.
