Yesterday was the soft opening of the new Siesta Sun Deck concession.

The new building’s part of a $21-million reconstruction project at Siesta Beach that should be finished in January. In addition to the new Sun Deck space, the old pavillion’s getting a makeover, and the Herald-Tribune reports a new public safety building, with another concession area, will be going up. New tennis courts, playground, and picnic area are done. Several hundred people stopped in to check out the new concession, and managers say they expect to have a very busy weekend.
