Six Rescued After Boat Flips Near El Jobean, Florida

EL JOBEAN, FL (January 2, 2024) – Six passengers escaped harm when their 39-foot boat flipped over in the waters near El Jobean, Florida, on Monday afternoon. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is currently investigating the cause of the accident.

According to Charlotte County deputies, another boat happened upon the scene shortly after the incident and provided immediate assistance to the passengers. A fireboat then transported the passengers to a nearby marina.

Six of the seven passengers were taken to a local medical facility for evaluation, but luckily, no serious injuries were reported.

“We are grateful for the quick response of the Good Samaritan boater and the fire department,” said FWC spokesperson Lieutenant James Davis. “Their prompt action undoubtedly contributed to the safe outcome of this incident.”

The FWC is continuing to investigate the cause of the boat flip and has not yet released any information about the specific details of the accident.
