A Florida Senate committee chaired by Nancy Detert of Venice has unanimously approved a bill that would recognize businesses who employ workers with disabilities. Senate Bill 388 moved out of the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee and will be part of Senate President Andy Gardiner’s 2016 agenda that includes improving education, training, and employment opportunities for disabled Floridians. If approved, the bill would create the Florida Unique Abilities Partner designation to highlight efforts by businesses who hire disabled persons.
