Gov. Rick Scott’s shifted gears and now says he’s going to push the legislature to expand Medicaid coverage to roughly 900,000 more people under the federal health overhaul. The Governor will ask the legislature to take the action under a bill that would expire in three years. After that, the expansion would require the legislature to act again. Scott says he’ll support expansion as long as Uncle Sam foots 100% of the higher costs, which is what the White House offered the states. For new enrollees, the feds would pick up 90% of the cost.
