A Sarasota policeman resigned yesterday after video showed him tossing food to someone who went to the county jail.
Police say Andrew Halpin handed a letter to the patrol shift commander just 15 minutes before internal affairs intended to interview him about the video.
The investigation could have finished today.
When Chief Bernadette DiPino learned about the footage last week, she immediately ordered the investigation and put Halpin on administrative leave.
DiPino says the department takes these allegations seriously, she expects its officers to treat everyone with dignity and respect.
