Sarasota Middle School was evacuated earlier this afternoon after the school district received reports of a natural gas odor near the facility. Once gas service was shut off, firefighters tested around and inside the building, giving an all-clear a short time later. The evacuation is a standard policy in the school district when a gas leak is suspected.
